MST Radar Facilities in Sri Venkateshwar University Tirupati

MST Radar Facilities in Sri Venkateshwar University Tirupati was established to create scientific awareness about the potential of  the radar facility for advanced research in middle atmospherics and to attract bright and young  researchers to make use of the Radar Facility. The centre serves as a common platform for the University system in India for the exchange of scientific knowledge and the centre is accessible to scientists and researchers from India Universities in the area of  atmospheric sciences especially with reference to MST Radar related studies.

The centre has been extending assistance to the user scientists in formulating the experiments. Journals and reprints are made available to the faculty members and research scholars of several Universities to carry out experiments at National Atmospheric Research scholars of several Universities to carry out experiments at National Atmospheric Research Laboratory. Necessary facilities such as off-line data processing, literature support, assistance to develop necessary algorithms for data processing, travel support etc., are provided to the visiting faculty members and research scholars. In collaboration with National Atmospheric Research Laboratory, the UGC-SVU centre conducts winter schools, user scientists' workshops, etc.

The University Grants Commission, New Delhi has established a Centre called UGC-SVU Centre for MST Radar Applications to promote Atmospheric Science Research in the country.

MST Radar, Lidar and other collocated facilities are established as a major National facility at Gadanki, 35 kilometers off Tirupati. The availability of such a front line, state–of–the art instrumentation facility in close proximity to S.V. University offers an excellent scope and opportunity for research in the area of Atmospheric Sciences. 

UGC–SVU Centre provides all the support in formulating and conducting the experiments and data processing facility.
