Legal education is in great demand in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This led to the establishment of Andhra Pradesh University of Law on 23rd September 2008. With its headquarters in Visakhapatnam, it has two more branches in Kadapa and Nizamabad. Andhra Pradesh University of Law was renamed to Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University in 2012.
