Legal education is in great demand in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This led to the establishment of Andhra Pradesh University of Law on 23rd September 2008. With its headquarters in Visakhapatnam, it has two more branches in Kadapa and Nizamabad. Andhra Pradesh University of Law was renamed to Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University in 2012. 

Objectives of Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University

  • To provide quality multi-disciplinary education in legal studies, keeping in view the demands of the global economy and the needs of the domestic society.
  • To evolve and impart comprehensive legal education at all levels to achieve excellence.
  • To promote cultural, legal and ethical values with a view to promote and foster the rule of law and objectives enshrined in the Constitution of India.
  • To promote legal awareness for achieving Social and Economic Justice for all.
  • To promote inter discipline study of law in relation to Management, Technology, International Co-operation and Development.

Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU) in association with The International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ICADR) offers One Year P.G. Diploma programme in Alternative Dispute Resolution (PGDADR) Regular Course at Visakhapatnam. 

The objectives of the course are:
  • understand the strengths and weaknesses of various dispute resolution methods.
  • explain primary dispute resolution process and functions.
  • develop techniques and skills to make effective use of ADR methods
  • describe and explain the ADR movement
  • compare and contrast various legal implications of each method
